Sahana Software Developer – Bangkok

The Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) is seeking a software developer to develop a Common Alerting Protocol (CAP) module for the Sahana Open Source software for disaster management. The incumbent will be developing risk mapping and alerting solutions for national organizations in the Maldives and the Philippines. The job will be based in AIT and the incumbent will closely collaborate with core Sahana team members as well as national organizations in the countries to support the “CAP on a Map” project.

Sahana Internship Program

Register as a Sahana Service Provider

The Sahana is seeking to expand its capabilities to support its growing list of customers and to execute on projects for governmental agencies and humanitarian organizations. We are looking for individuals and companies with the skills, capabilities and experience required to successfully support Sahana  products. In particular, we foresee needing the following skill-sets to work on projects:

  • Systems Administrators (Managing cloud-hosted environments a +, especially Amazon Web Services)
  • Visual Designers and UI/UX Developers
  • Software Developers (experience contributing to Open Source projects desired)

We foresee that opportunities will be mostly part-time and short-term (~2-3 months), with limited opportunities for full-time/short-term and possibly one or two longer term (up to one year) positions.

Otherwise, most positions will be staffed virtually/remotely with work done from home office/residences with no travel required. Clear demonstrated experience working independently, virtually and remotely with minimal direct supervision is required.

Technical Skills Desired:

  • Linux (Debian, Ubuntu)
  • Python
  • Web Application Framework experience (Web2Py experience preferred, others desirable)
  • Git/Github
  • Postgresql and MySql
  • Javascript, HTML and CSS
  • Apache
  • Amazon Web Services
