The Sahana Software Foundation would like to welcome our new interns Hannah Schwartz, Hanna Maier and Om Goeckermann.
Hanna Maier and Om Goeckermann are joining as Disaster Management Research interns. They will be conducting research to investigate the current information needs and trends in disaster and emergency management and evaluate Sahana software to support our continued innovation.
Hanna has a Masters in Disasters, Adaptation and Development and has worked with World Vision, Oxfam and Y Care International and is also currently interning at GIZ in the Global Initiative for Disaster Risk Management.
Om has extensive experience in various levels of digital crisis response and is a consummate innovator. His design work and range of perspective will lead our products to greater applicability. Member of GIS Corps, Crisis Commons, Humanitarian Open Street Map Team, Standby Task Force, Open Crisis, and UN Volunteers. Om is a veteran, medical/rescue professional, activist trainer, a student of cognitive informatics and community trauma slated to enter a PhD program in public policy next year.
Hannah Schwartz is joining us as a Communications Intern to help more disaster and emergency management organizations find out about and benefit from Sahana software. Hannah Schwartz comes to the Sahana Foundation with a background in emergency communication. She has a bachelors in public relations, and has worked with the University of Tennessee Athletic Event Management Department to improve emergency communications during sporting events. After interning with FEMA, she enrolled in Philadelphia University to earn her Masters in Disaster Medicine and Management. She is currently in her first year of the program. After earning her degree, Hannah plans to focus on the public information side of disaster management.
