The Sahana Software Foundation is holding its Software Development Internship Program again this year from November until March with up to 4 positions available. This is a virtual internship and is open to applicants from any country. This program was highly successful last year, with two of the interns, Ashwyn Sharma and Somay Jain going on to participant in the Google Summer of Code program with the Sahana Software Foundation. If you want to put your coding or design skills to use to build solutions which help people affected by disasters then this is your chance!
Software Developer Internships
These internships will suit someone with some skills in coding web applications and is interested in gaining more experience. Software Developer interns will support the Sahana Eden project (Python) or Sahana Vesuvius project (PHP) by working on tasks such as supporting deployments, fixing bugs, writing automated tests, porting and refactoring code and their own small projects.
Design Internships
These internships will suit someone with a background in user interface and user experience (UI/UX) design. Design interns will evaluate the usability of the Sahana software and develop designs to improving the user experience of the software. Ideally this intern will also have experience in HTML, JS & CSS.
Interns will work with a mentor from the Sahana community and be expected to work an average of 4 hours each week throughout the internship. At the end of the internship the intern will receive US$ 500.
If you are interested in either of these internships please fill out this application. Preference will be given to applicants who have made prior contributions to Sahana Eden or Sahana Vesuvius – so have a go at fixing a bug before you apply. Applications for both internships will end 13th October 2013.
